Malai Kofta Curry | Paneer Kofta Curry | Malai Paneer Kofta | Special Desi Recipes

Malai kofta - Kofta is one of the most loved dishes in India. Malai kofta is a popular Indian dish known for its rich, creamy, mild, and mouth-watering recipe liked by all generations. The term " malai" refers to cream, while "kofta" refers to small, round, and crispy dumplings typically made from mashed potatoes, paneer, nuts, and spices. These dumplings are fried until golden brown and then simmered in a curry sauce made from a blend of tomatoes, onions, cream, cashews, nuts, and aromatic spices such as garam masala, and coriander powder to give you the perfect meal

You can make this on any special occasion, festivals, and dinner parties. Malai Kofta is a great option for usual paneer dishes like paneer butter masala, kadai paneer, or matar paneer. Serve along with a naan or paratha and have a delightful whole meal.

For Gravy:

  • Onion - 3
  • Oil - 2 tbsps.
  • Salt - 1 tsp.
  • Green Chillies - 3
  • Garlic - 15 1 bulb
  • Ginger 1 Inch
  • Cashews - 5
  • Shahjeera - 1 Tsp.
  • Cloves - 3
  • Cardamom - 2
  • Cinnamon - 1 Inch
  • Tomatoes - 6
  • Water - 1 cup

Ingredients For Malai Kofta Curry:

  • Butter - 1 Tbsp
  • Oil - 5 tbsps.
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Bay leaves - 3
  • Dry red chilies - 3
  • Green chilies - 3
  • Crushed garlic - 1 tbsp.
  • Curry leaves
  • kasoori methi - 1 tbsp.
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4th tsp.
  • Water - 1/2 cup
  • Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Chilli powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • Fresh cream - 1/4th cup or 6 tbsps.

Preparing Kofta

  • Paneer- 1cup
  • Boiled potatoes - 1 cup
  • Cashews - 2 tbsps.
  • Coriander leaves - 1/4th cup
  • Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp.
  • Red chili powder - 1/2 tbsp.
  • Salt - As required
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4th tsp
  • Corn flour - 3 tbsps.
  • Oil - for deep fry
  • Corn flour - to coat

Preparing Kofta

  • In a bowl add grated paneer, grated boiled potato, Cashews, coriander leaves, red chili powder, salt, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, and cornflour, and mix well.
  • Take a small ball into the greased hand and make a small ball.
  • Drop slowly into the oil and deep fry till it becomes golden brown.
  • Remove and keep aside.

Preparation Of Malai Kofta Curry:

  • In a pan, add oil then add onions along with salt and mix well.
  • Saute for about 2 minutes.
  • When onions turn translucent add green chilies, garlic, ginger, cashews, shah jeera, cloves, cardamom, and cinnamon and saute for till it releases aroma.
  • then add tomatoes along with water and mix well.
  • Close and cook for about 10 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes tomatoes are cooked well.
  • Remove and keep aside till the tomatoes become cool.
  • When it becomes cool blend it to smooth paste.
  • In a pan add butter along with oil.
  • Bring it to hot then add mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
  • When seeds splutter, add dry red chilies and green chilies and saute for about 1 minute.
  • Then add crushed garlic along with curry leaves and kasoori methi and mix well.
  • Saute for about 2 Minutes till it releases aroma.
  • Then add turmeric powder and mix well.
  • Then add blended tomato puree along with red chili powder, Garam Masala powder, along with water.
  • Mix well, close, and cook for about 10 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes, add coriander seeds powder along with fresh cream and mix well.
  • Now add the fried koftas along with coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Cook for about 1 minute and serve hot along with roti or Naan or Chapati or even with plain rice.
