Pumpkin Halwa | Disco Pumpkin Halwa With Fresh Coconut | గుమ్మడికాయ హల్వా | Special Desi Recipes

Pumpkin Halwa - with detail photo and video recipe.An absolutely delicious and exotic halwa made with the goodness of pumpkins and the aroma of cardamom without milk and sugar. An Indian dessert easy to make and tasty with crunchy dry fruits on top makes us feel so comfortable to enjoy.

Here is my recipe, I used disco pumpkins, as the name suggests this is a variety of pumpkins that have a flat, disc shape. It has an almost orange color outer shell and is a smaller variety of pumpkin. It is sold as a whole and uncut.

First, clean the pumpkins and peel the skin. Then cut the pumpkins into half and remove the seeds. Save the seeds as these are very healthy. Grate the pumpkin and use it.I used the grating mixer to grate the pumpkins, one can use the grater or the blend the pumpkin if it is hard to grate with hand.

Later put the pumpkin removed seeds with pulp into the water and leave for 10 minutes. Then removes all the seeds and dry the seeds under the sun and can use. The pumpkin seeds are typically flat and asymmetrically oval have a white outer husk, and are light green in color after removing the husk when dried.

In my recipe, I used coconut milk. For this, I used one whole coconut, break and cut the coconut into small pieces. Then soak the chopped coconut in hot water for about 10 minutes which is optional. This process gives more coconut milk. Then strain the milk and used it. I used dry fruits of type cashew, almonds, melon seeds and raisins. One can also include walnuts, pistachio, etc.

Finally, I want to highlight some of my sweet recipes like,

Video Recipe of Pumpkin Halwa

  • Disco Pumpkins - 2 ( Around 480 g )
  • Coconut - 1 Whole
  • Jaggery - 3/4th Cup Or 190 g
  • Cashew - 2 Tbsps.
  • Almonds - 2 Tbsps.
  • Raisins - 1 Tbsp.
  • Melon Seeds - 1 Tbsp.
  • Grated Coconut - 1/2 Cup
  • Cardamom Powder - 1 Tsp.

Coconut Milk Ingredients:
  • Coconut - 1 Whole
  • Water - 1 Cup
  • In a blender add chopped wet coconut and water.
  • Blend to smooth paste.
  • Strain the coconut mixture to get fresh coconut milk.
  • To get more coconut milk, put the chopped coconut in hot water for about 2 minutes.
  • Keep the coconut milk aside.
  • In a pan, add cashew nuts, almonds, melon seeds and raisins along with ghee.
  • Roast the dry fruits to golden.
  • Remove and Keep Aside.
  • In the same pan add grated pumpkin and roast and cook.
  • Roast for about 5 minutes.
  • Then close and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Then pumpkin leaves raw smell, then add jaggery coconut milk and mix well.
  • Cook till it becomes thick.
  • Then add cardamom powder, grated coconut and saute 2 minutes.
  • After 2 minutes off the flame and add coconut milk.
  • Close and let it sit for 5 Minutes.
  • After 5 Minutes add roasted dry fruits and enjoy healthy and tasty pumpkin halwa.
