Thaalikala Paayasam | Ganesh Chaturthi Special Sweet Recipe | Special Desi Recipes

Ganesh Chaturthi | Vinayaka Chaturthi | Vinayaka Chavithi - is one of the 10-day long Hindu festival celebrated in India. On this day people worship Lord Ganesha. The festival is marked with Lord Ganesh idols at home and in the street by constructing small huts. Its one of the joyful festival for all generations.

On this occasion many delicious dishes are done to serve lord Ganesh as 'prasad', one among them is thaalikala payasam, which is the favorite sweet to Lord Ganesh.

It is one of the super sweet recipes which is healthy as well as tasty. One can prepare this sweet with wheat flour or rice flour or with a combination of both. In my recipe, I have done with the combination of both.

Ingredients:

  • Jaggery - 250 g
  • Wheat Flour - 150 g
  • Rice Flour - 3 tbsps.
  • Water - 5 Cups.
  • Almonds - 15
  • Cashews - 10
  • Raisin - 2 Tbsps.
  • Ghee - 2 Tbsps.
  • Cardamom Powder - 1 Tsp.
  • Grated Dry Coconut - 3 Tbsps.
  • Grated Dry Coconut - 3 Tbsps.
  • Cardamom Powder - 1 Tsp.

Preparation:

Jaggery Water Preparation:

  • In a bowl add grated jaggery.
  • Then add water and mix well.
  • Mix well till all the jaggery melts.
  • Filtered jaggery water if any impurities.

Mixing Thaalikalu Dough:

  • In Plate / Bowl, add wheat flour.
  • By adding jaggery water, mix the flour just like chapathi dough.
  • The dough should not be too thick or too soft.
  • Rest for about 15 Minutes.

Rice Flour Preparation:

  • In a bowl add rice flour.
  • Then add water and mix well.
  • Mix well without any lumps.

Thaalikala Preparation:

  • Take small ball.
  • Press and roll just like noodles

Thaalikala Paayasam Preparation:

  • In Pan add ghee.
  • Then add cashews, almonds and raisin.
  • Roast on low flame.
  • Roast till light brown colour.
  • Then remove and keep aside.
  • Then add remaining jaggery water.
  • In the jaggery water add prepared thaalikalu.
  • Bring to boil on high flame.
  • Then close and cook for about 10 minutes on medium flame.
  • After 10 minutes open and mix once.
  • Again close and cook for more 15 minutes.
  • Then check if thaalikalu are cooked.
  • If cooked well then add grated dry coconut and cardamom powder.
  • Then Add, mixed rice flour and stir continuously till it becomes thick.
  • Check the consistency and cook.
  • Mix well and cook for about 5 minutes.
  • Finally, add roasted dry fruits and mix well.
  • That's it Thaalikala payasam is ready to serve.

  • Then check if thaalikalu are cooked.
