Chana Saag Curry Recipe | Chickpea Leaves Curry Recipe |  Special Desi Recipes

Chana Saag | Chickpea Leaves Curry - with detail photo and video recipe. Chana Leaves are rarely and seasonal leaves which had very nutritional benefits. Chickpea leaves have possible health benefits for a medical condition. It contains vitamin K, Vitamin B6, Zinc, Iron, Magnesium, Potassium, it is also good for bone health, diabetics Etc.

Rarely found leafy vegetables with a pack of vitamins and minerals. If one can get this in near buy a local market or from the supermarket.

Above is the picture of chickpea leaves, Clean the chickpea leaves by removing the hard stem and check for the leaf infects if any. Check thoroughly before washing the leaves. Separate the leaves from the stem and keep aside. Then wash the cleaned and infect free leaves thrice as it contains dust. Of course it a time taking process but the benefits are more for this leaves.

Ingredients:
  • Chana Saag | Bengal Gram Leaves | Chickpea Leaves - 20 Rupees Or 200 G
  • Oil - 4 Tbsps.
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 Tsp.
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp.
  • Onion - 1
  • Green Chillies - 4
  • Dry Red Chillies - 2
  • Salt - As Required
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 Tbsp.
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 th Tsp.
  • 20 Minutes Soaked Chana Dal - 3 Tbsps.
  • Tomatoes - 4
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 Tbsp.
  • Coriander Seeds Powder - 1/2 Tbsp.
  • Garam Masala Powder - 1 Tsp.
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Curry Leaves
Preparation:
  • Firstly clean and remove the hard stem from the chana leaves and check for insects if any.
  • Then wash the leaves thrice to remove dust from leaves.
  • Soak the chana dal for about 20 minutes.
  • In a pan add oil, then add mustard and cumin seeds.
  • When seeds splutter add onions. green chilies, dry red chilies, and salt.
  • Saute for about 1 minute, then add curry leaves. ginger-garlic paste soaked chana dal and turmeric powder and mix well.
  • Saute the dal for about 2 Minutes then add cleaned and washed chana leaves and mix well.
  • Now close and cook for about 5 Minutes.
  • Chana leaves releases water, mix well and again close and cook for about 10 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes leaves cooked 60 percent, now add tomatoes and red chilies powder and mix well.
  • Close and cook for about 15 minutes or till the tomatoes are soft.
  • In-between stir and mix the curry.
  • After 15 minutes add coriander seeds powder, garam masala powder and mix well.
  • Cook 2 minutes and finally add coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or chapati or even with plain rice.
