Turmeric Pickle - HALDI is the name that doesn't need any introduction. We all use Haldi in our regular curries to make the curry look beautiful. It makes the curry look vibrant yellow tinge with the mix of color and makes the dish very attractive. As everyone knows the Haldi in powdered form or in turmeric sticks blend to powered but here I'm talking about raw turmeric root or kachi turmeric root which is just like ginger with a bright orange color. This root is processed and powered into the form that is widely available in the markets as turmeric powder. It has a slightly peppery, bitter flavor, giving it a certain earthy taste, and was so unique.

According to Ayurveda, Haldi had many health benefits. It acts as an anti-oxidant, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and anti-carcinogenic. Whereas, Kachi Haldi is primarily known for its wonderful health benefits when used during the cold months of winter. Adding this fresh raw turmeric or Kachi Haldi in our daily diet had many health benefits like it helps in smooth digestion through the tracts, it is also known to cure skin problems caused by air pollution, Kachi haldi acts as the best and excellent antiseptic agent, the anti-inflammatory properties of the Kachi Haldi makes it an excellent pain reliever.

Now everyone knows the importance of raw turmeric. Now let's see what to do and how to prepare dishes with this. This Kachi Haldi can be done in curry form or as a pickle. Here in this post am sharing healthy, spicy, and tasty raw fresh turmeric pickle done with turmeric root, ginger, garlic, green chilies, and lemon juice. Having daily 1/2tbsp. of this pickle have many medicinal values.

Ingredients:

Turmeric Pickle Ingredients:
  • Fresh Turmeric - 250 g
  • Ginger - 1/2 Cup
  • Garlic - 1/2 Cup
  • Green Chilies - 1/4th Cup
  • Lemon Juice - 1/2 Cup
  • Mustard Oil - 1/2 Cup
  • Mustard Seeds - 1/2 Tsp.
  • Salt - 2 1/2 Tbsps. For Masala:
  • Mustard Seeds - 1/2 Tbsps.
  • Fenugreek Seeds - 1/4th Tsp.
  • Fennel Seeds - 1/2 Tbsp.
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp.
  • Black Peppercorns - 1/2 Tbsp. Preparation:
  • Before preparing the pickle firstly remove the skin of the Tumeric and clean with water.
  • Later chop and dry the raw turmeric till all the moisture left.
  • In the same way, peel the ginger and garlic and chop them into pieces.
  • Now dry all the ginger, garlic, green chilies.
  • Now in a blender add mustard seeds, fennel seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, black peppercorn, and blend to fine powdered.
  • In another bowl add chopped turmeric, ginger, garlic, green chilies, salt, and lemon juice.
  • Keep aside for about 10 minutes.
  • In the pan add mustard oil and heat the oil till smoke, then reduce the flame.
  • Now add blended powdered and mix and saute for about 30 seconds.
  • Now add the warm masala oil and mix well.
  • Close and rest for about 12 hours.
  • After 12 hours turmeric pickle releases oil.
  • Daily serve 1/2 tbsp. of this turmeric pickle with steam hot rice.
  • This pickle stays good for 2 months in the refrigerator.

Detail Photo Recipe Of Turmeric Pickle

  • Later chop and dry the raw turmeric till all the moisture left.


  • In the same way, peel the ginger and garlic and chop them into pieces.
  • Now dry all the ginger, garlic, green chilies.
  • Now in a blender add mustard seeds, fennel seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, black peppercorn, and blend to fine powdered.





  • In another bowl add chopped turmeric, ginger, garlic, green chilies, salt, and lemon juice.
  • Keep aside for about 10 minutes.
