And if there are leftovers of plain rice, then those rice can also be utilized the next day and turned into the delicious Main course. One such rice dish is " Lemon Rice". Lemon rice is a popular and comfort food of Indians and it takes only a matter of few minutes to rustle up this vibrant, and tasty dish. 

Lemon Rice is also called ' Chitranna '. It is one of the popular and native to the Southern part of Indian, particularly in Karnataka. It is one of the quick and easy recipes which going to make it within minutes. Lemon rice is one of the crunchy, flavourful, and tangy dishes that are easy to make and tastes so good. 

The main ingredient and the superhero of the recipe are lemons, curry leaves, peanuts, chana, and urad dal. This ingredient plays the main role in lemon rice. And the rest ingredients are green chilies, onions, ginger-garlic paste, and coriander leaves. Here in this post is all about no onion and no garlic lemon rice. This lemon rice is done with freshly chopped ginger to amp up the flavors of the instead in the place of ginger garlic paste. 


Lemon is a popular fruit that people use in small quantities to add flavor to some recipes. Lemons are one of the healthiest fruit with a wide range of health benefits. Whether you like to juicing them, or add to your food or making desserts or as the whole main meal like lemon rice. Not only the lemon juice or the pulp but also the lemon skin do wonder on the skin. To make the dish look tempting and delicious we usually prefer to add mustard, cumin seeds and garnished with freshly chopped coriander leaves. Firstly mix lemon juice along with salt to the cooked rice and keep aside. Then prepare the tempering and add the lemon mixed rice into the tempering and mix well. If you are using the leftover rice, close and cook the rice till it becomes hot while stirring the rice inbetween. If you are using hot rice close and cook for about 5 to 10 minutes and serve hot with omelet and pappad.

  • Lemon Juice - 4 Tbsps.
  • Salt - As Required
  • Oil - 4 Tbsps.
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 Tsp.
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp.
  • Chana Dal - 1 Tbsp.
  • Peanuts - 2 Tbsps.
  • Urad Dal - 1 Tbsp.
  • Dry Red Chillies - 4
  • Curry Leaves
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4th Tsp.
  • Hing - 1/2 Tsp.
  • Finely Chopped Ginger - 2 Tbsps.
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Cooked Rice - 3 Cups
Preparation

  • Firstly cook the rice, or even can use the leftover rice.
  • Take the rice in the bowl and mix lemon juice along with salt and mix well.
  • Now take the pan and add oil, chana dal, urad dal, peanuts, and saute well.
  • Saute till the peanuts splutter and releases aroma.
  • Then add mustard and cumin seeds.
  • When the seeds Splutter, add dry red chilies and curry leaves.
  • When it releases aroma, add finely chopped ginger along with Hing and turmeric powder.
  • Mix well and saute till it releases aroma.
  • Then add cooked rice and mix well.
  • Close and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Finally, add coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Serve hot with no onion no garlic Wada on festival days and omelet and papad on regular days and enjoy.
