More easily available nutritious vegetables treated as a substitute for meat. Many will have fear of eating this vegetable as it causes an "Itchy throat". One should not neglect this nutritious vegetable because of this reason. For this, yam should be cooked very carefully to avoid such reactions. Yam would be cut into cubes, fried, and then put in salt water to avoid any alkaloids or, the chopped cubes should soak in salt water before cooking. This way helps to avoid the itching in the throat and such reactions and gives a very tasty curry that just resembles the meat. This would go well either with hot roti's or pooris and even with plain rice.
