Ingredients:
- Bitter Gourd / Kakarakaya / Karela – 160 g
- Toor Dal / Kandi Pappu – 150 g
- Tamarind – 20 g
- Tomatoes – 250 g or 5 Big Chopped
- Green Chillies – 3 Chopped
- Onions – 1 Big Chopped
- Red Chilli Powder – 1 ½ Tsps.
- Salt – As Required
- Turmeric Powder – 1 Tsp.
- Oil – 1 Tbsp.
For Tempering / Seasoning:
- Oil – 3 Tbsps.
- Mustard Seeds – 1 Tsp.
- Cumin Seeds – 1 Tsp.
- Dry Red Chillies – 3
- Crushed Garlic – 1 Tbsp.
- Curry Leaves
- Turmeric Powder – 1 Tsp.
- Tamarind Juice – 1 ½ Cups
- Coriander Leaves.
Preparation:
- Before Cooking Cut Bitter Gourd Into Round & Thick.
- Add Salt And Rest it For 20 Minutes.
- After 20 Minutes Add Water And Mix Once.
- Then Wash & Squeeze All Water And keep Aside.
- Soak Tamarind In Water And Extract Juice.
- Wash Toor Dal In Water.
- Then Remove Water And Add Toor Dal Into The Pressure Cooker.
- Add Green Chillies, Onions, Tomatoes, Bitter Gourd, Red Chilli Powder, Salt, Turmeric Powder & Oil And Mix Well.
- Now Close The Lid And Cook On High Flame For 2 Whistles.
- After 2 Whistles, Off The Flame And Keep Aside .
- Tempering Preparation:
- In Pan Add Oil.
- Add Mustard And Cumin Seeds.
- When They Splutter Add Dry Red Chillies, Crushed Garlic & Curry Leaves And Saute.
- Saute Till Garlic Turns Light Brown Colour.
- Then Add Turmeric Powder And Tamarind Juice .
- Add Salt and Cumin Powder And Mix Well
- Bring To Boil by Stirring Occasionally Till The Tamarind juice Becomes Lightly Thick.
- When Complete Is Gone, Open The Lid And Mix Once.
- Then Add Tamarind Seasoning Into The Dal And Mix Well.
- Bring To Boil Again And Finally Add Coriander Leaves.
