Gunpowder | Podi Idli | Chutney Powder - With Detail Photo And Video Recipe. Gunpowder is One Of The Spicy Chutney Powder Usually Served With Idly / Dosa. Podi Idly Is One Of The Super Fast And Tasty Breakfast If u Have The Ready Made Gunpowder. This Gunpowder Can Store In Air Tight Container For About 15 Days.

Gunpowder One Recipe Can Be Serves As Differently Like It Can Served With Idly, Dosa Or With Plain Hot Rice Along With Oil / Ghee.

Gunpowder Is Made With Equal Measures Of Toor Dal, Urad Dal, Chana Dal, Roasted Chana Dal, Sesame Seeds, Rice & Red Chillies Along With Some Flavor And Spice Ingredients Like Black Pepper Corns,Hing & Curry Leaves. For Some Sour Taste I Added Tamarind. All The Ingredients Are Dry Roasted Separately And Brought Down To Room Temperature. Once Cool Completely Blend All The Ingredinets Along With Salt & Turmeric Powder To A Fine Powder.

Ingredients:

Gunpowder Ingredients:

  • Toor Dal | Kandi Pappu - 50 g
  • Urad Dal - 50 g
  • Chana Dal - 50 g
  • Roasted Chana | Putnalu - 50 g
  • Dry Red Chillies - 50 g
  • Rice - 50 g
  • Sesame Seeds - 50 g
  • Dry Coconut - 25 g
  • Poppy Seeds - 3 Tbsps.
  • Black Pepper Corns - 30 / 1 Tsp.
  • Curry Leaves
  • Tamarind - 45 g
  • Hing / Astafoetida - 1 Tsp.
  • Salt - As Required
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 Tsp.
  • Oil - 3 Tbsps.

Podi Idli Ingredients:

  • Oil - 3 Tbsps.
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp.
  • Urad Dal - 1 Tbsp.
  • Chana Dal - 1 Tbsp.
  • Curry Leaves
  • Prepared Idly - 4
  • Prepared Gunpowder

Preparation:

Gunpowder Preparation:

  • In Pan Add Toor Dal, Urad Dal, Chana Dal & Dry Coconut.
  • Dry Roast On Low Flame.
  • Dal Changes Colour And Releases Nice Aroma.
  • Remove And Keep Aside
  • Then Add Sesame Seeds And Dry Roast For About 1 Minute.
  • Then Add Poppy Seeds And Dry Roast For About 1 Minute.
  • Remove And Keep Aside.
  • Then Add Rice And Pepper Corns And Dry Roast.
  • Rice Changes Colour, Remove And Keep Aside.
  • Then Add Roasted Chana And Curry Leaves.
  • Roast For About 1 Minute Then Add Tamarind And Dry Roast For About 2 Minutes.
  • Now Add Oil And Add Dry Red Chillies And Saute Well.
  • When Red Chillies Puffs Up, Remove And Keep Aside.
  • When Everything Becomes Cool And To Blender And Blend To Fine Powder.
  • Can Store This Gunpowder In AIr Tight Container For About 15 to 20 Days.
  • This Can Be Used For Idli, Dosa Or With Plain Rice Mixed With Ghee / Sesame Oil.

Podi Idli Preparation:

  • In Same Pan Add Oil.
  • Add Cumin Seeds, Urad Dal And Chana Dal.
Note : Urad Dal And Chana Dal Are Optional
  • Saute Well For About 1 Minute Then Add Curry Leaves.
  • Saute And Add Prepared Idlis.
  • Add Gunpowder On Top And Turn.
  • Again Add Gunpowder on Other Side .
  • Spread Gunpowder On Both Side And Cook For About 1 Minute.
  • Serve Hot With Ghee

  • When Red Chillies Puffs Up, Remove And Keep Aside.





  • When Everything Becomes Cool And To Blender And Blend To Fine Powder.Then Add Salt, Hing & Turmeric Powder.






  • Can Store This Gunpowder In AIr Tight Container For About 15 to 20 Days.


  • This Can Be Used For Idli, Dosa Or With Plain Rice Mixed With Ghee / Sesame Oil.

Podi Idli Preparation:

  • In Same Pan Add Oil.

  • Add Cumin Seeds, Urad Dal And Chana Dal.



Note : Urad Dal And Chana Dal Are Optional

  • Saute And Add Prepared Idlis.



  • Add Gunpowder On Top And Turn.



  • Again Add Gunpowder on Other Side .

  • Spread Gunpowder On Both Side And Cook For About 1 Minute.
