Palak Pulao | Spinach Pulao | Palak Rice Recipe | Special Desi Recipes

Palak ( Spinach ) Pulao - with a detailed recipe of one-pot dish palak rice. Palak ( Spinach ) is a nutritional powerhouse. Healthy and protein pack recipes which is capable of elevating any dish to perfect and satisfy our taste buds. It is very challenging to make the healthy lunch with less time and effort, try this simple yet healthy and tasty palak pulao recipe, and enjoy with your loved ones.

This is a very simple one-pot recipe with palak and rice. For this recipe, I used fresh leaves of palak. Before using any green leaves, leaves should be soaked in salt water for about 10 to 15 minutes. This helps to remove any impurities or dust from the green leaves.

Spinach is a superfood comprising of vitamins B, C and E, Potassium, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, and Omega-3 Fatty acids a of which are required for healthy hair growth. It helps to maintain healthy bones and relaxing the body.

Ingredients:

  • Palak ( Spinach ) - 3 Bunches
  • Rice - 2 Glasses Approx 500 g
  • Water - 3 1/2 Glasses
  • Ghee - 1 Tbsp.
  • Oil - 3 Tbsps.
  • Bay Leaves- 2
  • Cloves -4
  • Cardamom - 3
  • Cinnamon - 1 Inch
  • Shahjeera - 1 Tsp.
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp.
  • Dagad Phool / Black Stone Flower ( Biryani Puvvu )
  • Marathi Moggu / Kapok Buds - 2
  • Mace / Japatri
  • Nutmeg Powder - 1 Tsp.
  • Onions - 3 Big
  • Green Chillies -4
  • Kasoori Methi - 1/2 Tbsp.
  • Curry Leaves
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 Tbsp.
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4th Tsp.
  • Coriander Seeds Powder - 1/2 Tbsp.
  • Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp.
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Tomatoes - 3

Preparation:

  • In a pan add ghee and oil.
  • When oil gets heated up add all the masala like bay leaves, cloves,
  • cinnamon, cardamom, shah jeera, cumin seeds, dagad pool, Marathi Moggu, mace, nutmeg
  • Then add onions along with salt and mix well.
  • When onions turn light brown, green chilies, curry leaves, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder and mix well.
  • Saute well till it leaves aroma.
  • Then add palak leaves, tomatoes, and mix well.
  • Close and cook for about 5 minutes or till the tomatoes are cooked well.
  • When tomatoes are cooked well add coriander seeds powder and garam masala powder.
  • Mix well and add water along with salt and mix well.
  • Bring the water to boil and add soaked rice.
  • Bring the rice to boil.
  • Now close and cook for about 10 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes add coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Now again close and simmer for about 15 minutes.
  • After 15 minutes, off the flame and rest for 5 minutes without opening the lid.
  • After 5 minutes open and serve hot with raita and enjoy.
