Watermelon Tomato Curry - Watermelon tomato curry is one of the unique and tasty curries without throwing out the peel ( the white one ). This curry tastes, just like the yellow cucumber curry.

Watermelon is a sweet and refreshing low-calorie summer fruit. It is a perfect natural coolant. It provides hydration and also essential nutrients including vitamins and minerals. Watermelon contains around 90% water, which makes it useful for staying hydrated in the summer. It reduces blood sugar, high blood pressure, and also heart disease risk. It helps to clean the kidney and to boost the immune system. It helps to keep skin healthy and glowing. 



 For this tasty curry, firstly wash and clean the watermelon very well. Then chop the watermelon and eat the red. then peel or chop the green part and throw and finally chop the white part into small cubes. These cubes are for the curry. Before adding watermelon cubes cook the tomatoes very well till the tomatoes are soft and mushy and then add watermelon cubes as these cubes are cooked very fast.

Cucumber Tomato Curry

Ingredients:

  • Oil - 4 Tbsps.
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 Tsp.
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp.
  • Onion - 1 Big
  • Green Chillies - 4
  • Curry Leaves
  • Kasoori Methi - 1 Tbsp.
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 Tbsp.
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4th Tsp.
  • Tomatoes - 4
  • Watermelon - 3 Cups
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1 Tbsp.
  • Garam Masala Powder - 1/2 Tsp.
  • Coriander Seeds Powder - 1 Tsp.
  • Coriander Leaves

Preparation:

  • Clean and cut the watermelon.
  • Eat the red and remove the green part very thinly.
  • Then chop the watermelon into cubes and keep aside.
  • In pan, add oil.
  • When oil gets heated up, add mustard and cumin seeds.
  • When the seeds splutter, add onions along with salt and saute for about 2 minutes till the onions turn translucent.
  • Then add green chilies, curry leaves, and kasoori methi.
  • Mix well and saute for about 2 minutes.
  • Then add ginger garlic paste and turmeric powder and mix well.
  • Saute well till it releases aroma.
  • When it releases aroma, add chopped tomatoes along with red chili powder and mix well.
  • Close and Cook for about 5 minutes.
  • After 5 minutes, tomatoes are cooked well soft and mushy.
  • Now add watermelon cubes and mix well.
  • Again close and cook for about 10 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes watermelon releases water.
  • Mix well and add garam masala powder, coriander seeds powder and mix well.
  • Again close and cook by stirring in-between for about 15 minutes or till the watermelon is cooked well.
  • After 15 minutes it is cooked well just like the cucumber ( dosakaaya ) curry.
  • Finally, add coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Serve hot with chapati/roti / Naan or even with plain rice.
