Raw banana fry, also known as "Vazhakkai Varuval " in Tamil or "Aratikaya Vepudu" in Telugu is a delicious South Indian side dish made from unripe bananas. This dish is typically seasoned with spices and can be enjoyed with rice or as a part of a large meal accompanied by sambar, rasam, or alone the banana fry itself.

Ingredients:

  • Raw Banana - 1
  • Gram Flour ( Besan ) - 1/2 Cup
  • Rice Flour - 1/4th Cup
  • Coriander Leaves 
  • Curry Leaves 
  • Fenugreek Leaves 
  • Green Chillies - 2 Finely Chop
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1 Tbsp.
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4th Tsp
  • Salt - 1 Tsp. Or As Required
  • Garam Masala Powder - 1 Tsp
  • Water - As Required
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1/2 Tbsp.
  • Mustard Oil - 4 Tbsps.
  • Oil - 4 Tbsps.
Preparation:
  • In a bowl add gram flour, rice flour, red chili powder, salt, coriander leaves, curry leaves, fenugreek leaves, turmeric powder, green chilies, garam masala powder, ginger garlic paste and mix well.
  • Add as required water and mix well just like the baji batter.
  • Now peel the raw banana peel and chop it into pieces.
  • Now dip the raw banana piece into the batter and fry in mixed oils ( mustard oil and sesame oil )
  • Fry on both sides and serve hot with onions and green chilies.
