Ingredients:
Main Ingredients:
- Radish - 3 Big
- Onion - 1
- Curry Leaves
- Fenugreek Leaves
- Ginger Garlic Paste - 1/2 Tbsp.
- Salt - As Required
- Coriander Leaves
- Tomatoes - 3
Spices & Seasoning:
- Mustard Seeds - 1/2 Tsp.
- Cumin Seeds - 1/2 Tsp.
- Green Chillies - 3
- Dry Red Chillies - 2
- Turmeric Powder - 1/4th Tsp.
- Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 Tbsp.
- Cumin Seed Powder - 1 Tsp.
- Coriander Seed Powder - 1 Tsp.
Preparation:
Prepare The Radish:
- Wash and peel the white radish. Slice or chop into pieces for even cooking.
- Sprinkle a little salt over the chopped radish and let it sit for 5 minutes. This helps reduce its strong smell. Rinse and drain before cooking ( This step is optional ) I skipped this step as I like the radish smell.
Cooking Process:
- Heat oil in a pan on medium heat. Add Mustard seeds and cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Now add green chilies and dry red chilies and saute till it releases aroma.
- Add chopped onions and saute until they turn golden brown.
- Stir in the ginger garlic paste, curry leaves, and turmeric powder and saute for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
- Now add chopped radish and saute for about 3 to 4 minutes.
- Then add chopped tomatoes, red chili powder, cumin powder, and salt and mix well so that it gets coated with the masala.
- Cover and cook on low-medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the radish turns tender, remove the lid and saute on high flame for 2 -3 minutes to get a crispy texture by adding coriander powder and coriander leaves.
Garnishing & Serving:
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with plain rice, and rasam for a comforting and delicious meal.
Tips for the best Radish Fry:
- For extra crispiness, fry the radish on high heat for the last 2 minutes.
- Adjust spice levels based on your preference.
- You can add 1/2 Tsp of fennel seeds powder for extra flavor.
- If radish has a strong smell, soak the chopped pieces in salt water for 10 minutes before cooking.
