Gongura Chicken | Sorrel Leaves Chicken | Ambada Leaves Chicken Curry - With Detail Photo And Video Recipe.Gongura Chicken Is One Of The Popular & Very Common Dish In Some Regions Of South India.The Sourness Of Gongura /Sorrel leaves And Spices Gives Very Good Taste To The Recipe.

Gongura Chicken Curry Is One Of The Distinctive Recipe Among The Chicken Varieties.There Are Two Types Of Gongura Chicken, One Is Blending The Gongura Leaves Into Fine Paste And The Other By Adding The Fried Sorrel Leaves Directly Into The Chicken.

In This Post Am Sharing The Second Type Of Gongura Chicken By Adding The Fried Gongura Leaves Into The Chicken.For This I Added Crushed Garlic Before Adding The Sorrel Leaves. Garlic Is A Very Good Combination With Gongura / Sorrel Leaves.

Firstly Fry The Gongura Leaves With Garlic And Salt.Remove And Keep Aside, Then In The Same Pan Add Oil And Did All The Tempering And Cooked Chicken.When Chicken Was Completely Cooked Add Fried Sorrel Leaves And Cooked Well Till The Oil Releases.

Ingredients:

Frying Sorrel Leaves Ingredients:

  • Gongura / Sorrel Leaves / Ambada Leaves With Red Stem - 1 Bowl / 2 Bunches
  • Garlic - 1 tbsp.
  • Salt - As Required
  • Oil - 4 Tbsps.

Chicken Ingredients:

  • Chicken - 300 g
  • Shahjeera - 1 Tsp.
  • Green Chillies - 4 Chopped
  • Onions - 4 Chopped
  • Curry Leaves
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 Tsp.
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 Tbsp.
  • Red Chilli Powder - 2 Tbsps.
  • Cumin Powder - 1 Tsp.
  • Coriander Powder - 1 1/2 Tsps.
  • Garam Masala Powder - 1 1/2 tsps
  • Kasoori Methi - 1 1/2 tsps.
  • Coriander Leaves 

Chicken Marination Ingredients:

  • Chicken 
  • Red Chilli Powder - 2 Tbsps.
  • Turmeric powder - 1 Tsp.
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 1/2 Tbsps.
  • Lemon Juice - 1 Tbsp.
  • Oil - 1 Tbsp.
  • Salt - As Required

Preparation:

Frying Chicken Preparation:

  • In Pan, Add Oil.
  • Then Add Crushed Garlic And Fry For About 2 Minute.
  • Then Add Gongura Leaves / Sorrel Leaves And Fry Till The Leaves Wilt off.
  • Cook 80 Percent.
  • Remove And Keep Aside.

Chicken Marination:

  • In Bowl Add Chicken, Red Chilli Powder, Salt, Ginger Garlic Paste, Turmeric Powder, Lemon Juice And Oil.
  • Mix Well And Marinate It For About 1 Hour / Overnight

Gongura Chicken Recipe Preparation:

  • In Pan Add Oil.
  • Then Add Shahjeera, Green Chillies And Saute For About 1 Minute.
  • Then Add Chopped Onions With Salt And Saute For About 2 Minutes.
  • Then Add Curry Leaves, Turmeric Powder And Ginger Garlic Paste.
  • Saute Till The Onion Changes Colour And Ginger Garlic Paste Leave Raw Smell.
  • Now Add Marinated Chicken And Mix Well.
  • Close And Cook For About 10 Minutes Or Till The Chicken Is Cooked 80 Percent.
  • Then Add Cumin Powder, Garam Masala Powder And Coriander Powder And Mix Well.
  • Now Add Fried Gongura Leaves With Required Water And Mix Well.
  • Close And Simmer For About 15minutes.
  • Finally Add Kasoori Methi And Mix Well.
  • Cook Till Oil Releases And Add Coriander Leaves And Mix Well.
  • That's it Tasty, Distinctive And Spicy Gongura Chicken Curry Is Ready To Serve.

  • Then Add Cumin Powder, Garam Masala Powder And Coriander Powder And Mix Well.






  • Now Add Fried Gongura Leaves With Required Water And Mix Well.



  • Close And Simmer For About 15minutes.

  • Finally Add Kasoori Methi And Mix Well.
