Bottle gourd is also called "Lauki", is very low in calories and is an excellent vegetable in the diet. Today's recipe is about bottle gourd vada, different but tasty and easy snack recipe from heavy work. For this recipe, firstly peel and grate the bottle gourd. Then add salt and keep aside for about 15 minutes. Squeeze and remove water from the bottle gourd and add all the remaining masala and mix well without adding water. This is one of the quick and easy recipes if you are having the grater mixer or if you are fast in grating the bottle gourd.

Bottle-shaped vegetables not only have a cooling effect on the body but is quite beneficial for the heart and even helps in sleeping disorders. It even works as a diet vegetable that contains more water content.

Ingredients:

  • Bottle Gourd - 1 Big
  • Onion - 1
  • Green Chillies - 3
  • Finely Chopped Ginger - 1 1/2 Tbsps.
  • Finely Chopped Garlic - 1 1/2 Tbsps.
  • Crushed Coriander Seeds - 1 Tbsp.
  • Curry Leaves
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Red Chili Powder - 1/2 Tbsp.
  • Salt - As Required
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 Tsp.
  • Gram Flour - 1/2 Cup
  • Rice Flour - 1/2 Cup
Preparation:

  • Firstly, peel and grate the bottle gourd.
  • Add salt and keep aside for about 15 minutes.
  • When done, bottle gourd releases water.
  • Add the grated bottle gourd into cloth and squeeze and remove water.
  • Add the grated bottle gourd, then add onion, green chilies, curry leaves, coriander leaves, crushed coriander seeds, finely chopped ginger, finely chopped garlic, red chili powder, salt, besan, rice flour, and turmeric powder.
  • Mix well and make vada with wet or oil hand.
  • Slowly drop into the oil
  • Deep fry till it changes golden color and removes and serve hot with onion and tomato ketchup.
