Steamed Egg Curry | ఎగ్ జున్ను కూర | Bhapa Dimer Korma | Egg Cubes Curry | Special Desi Recipes

Bhapa Dimer Korma is a traditional Bengali dish made with steamed eggs cooked in a flavorful gravy. What makes this recipe yet more special is the process of preparing the eggs. Instead of frying or boiling, the eggs in this recipe are steamed and cooked. If you are bored or dislike paneer, try this recipe which just looks like paneer and tastes super.

Steamed Egg Curry

As everyone knows the egg is an excellent source of high-quality protein and rich in vitamins b, zinc, calcium, and important nutrients. Like the same hard-boiled eggs are low-calorie, nutrient-rich food that is easily digestible.

The dish typically includes eggs, onions, tomatoes, green chilies, ginger garlic paste, coconut, and a blend of spices such as turmeric, garam masala, and coriander powder. For this recipe, the eggs are first steamed and cooked in a coconut tomato-based gravy. The gravy is prepared separately by sauteing the onions, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, green chilies, curry leaves, and ginger garlic paste in oil until golden brown. Then a mixture of coconut spices and tomato paste is added to create a rich and aromatic base. Once the gravy is done, the steamed eggs are added to it and simmered together allowing the flavors to meld. Bhapa dimer korma is often garnished with coriander leaves and served hot with rice chapati or naan.

Steamed Egg Ingredients:
  • Eggs - 4
  • Salt - 1 Tsp.
  • Milk - 1/4th Tsp.
Masala Ingredients:
  • Dry Coconut - 1/4th Cup
  • Cloves - 8
  • Cardamom - 3
  • Cinnamon - 1 Inch
  • Shahjeera - 1 Tsp.
  • Kashmiri Chillies - 2
Cooking Steamed Egg Curry Ingredients:
  • Oil - 3 Tbsps.
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp.
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 Tsp.
  • Onions - 4
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 Tbsp.
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4th Tsp.
  • Kasoori Methi - 1/2 Tbsp.
  • Tomatoes -  6
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1 1/2 tbsp.
  • Roasted Coriander Seeds Powder - 1/2 tbsp.
  • Coriander Leaves


Steamed Egg Preparation:
  • In a bowl add eggs, salt, and milk.
  • Beat and whisk the eggs until everything is mixed well.
  • Now pour the mixture into the greased bowl and steamed for about 10 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes, when the it got cool completely cut into cubes and keep aside.
Masala Preparation:
  • In a pan add dry coconut along with oil.
  • Roast for about 5 minutes, then add all the masala ingredients and saute till it releases aroma.
  • Now add tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes become soft.
  • When it becomes cool remove and blend to smooth paste.
Steamed Egg Curry:
  • In a pan add oil, mustard, and cumin seeds.
  • When seeds splutter, add onions along with salt and mix well.
  • Saute till the onions become brown in color.
  • Now add turmeric powder, kasoori methi, and ginger garlic paste.
  • Mix well and saute till it releases aroma.
  • Now add the masala puree along with red chilies powder and coriander seeds powder and mix well.
  • Bring to boil. When it becomes boil add steamed eggs along with salt and mix well.
  • Close and simmer for about 15 minutes.
  • Finally, add coriander leaves and serve hot.
