Basil Leaves Rasam - healthy and tasty rasam with basil leaves ( Tulasi) and pepper. Basil leaves ( Tulasi ) is one of the oldest herbs known for its healing and healthful properties have been the most treasured knowledge across the world. One can see basil plants outside many Indian households, in one decorated pot( Tulasi Kota) designed with "swathik" "Om" and colored with yellow. Holy basil is offered in the form of prasad to the god. Usually, we don't pluck the leaves from the holy basil plant. These leaves are taken from other plants which we usually use for cooking as it contains many medicinal benefits. We keep two different plants, one for doing pooja and the other for cooking purposes.

Basil leaves have many health benefits as it supports liver function and helps to detoxify the body. Basil leaves promote a healthy gut and diabetic management. Consumption of basil could also soothe a fever, headache, sore throat, cold, cough, and flu. Its anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties help to manage stress and fight against depression.

In this recipe, I used basil leaves and tamarind. I used rasam ingredients along with roasted gram, pepper, and basil leaves. This recipe works well to boost immunity as well as gives some relief during the cold and cough. Even this recipe tastes good when we don't like to have food with a sore throat and a tasteless tongue. Serve hot this soup with any fry curry, or alone the rasam itself with hot plain rice and enjoy.

Finally, I want to highlight some of my recipes.
