Dosakaya Pappu - with detail photo and video recipe.Easy, quick and tasty dal in minutes. Dosakaya Pappu is one of the famous and traditional dal or Pappu recipe in southern regions. It is done by using sambar cucumber or yellow cucumber along with tomatoes and spices. Few will use tamarind juice or tamarind in this dal but, here I did this by adding tomatoes.
Sambar cucumber | Yellow Cucumber - First peel the skin of the cucumber, then remove seeds rinse the cucumber. Chop the cucumber into big pieces so that they retain their shape even after cooking. Adding of fenugreek seeds in the recipes gives a very good taste as well as flavor to the curry.

Ingredients:
- Toor Dal - 1 1/2 Cups
- Water - 3 Cups
- Mustard Seeds - 1/2 Tsp.
- Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp.
- Fenugreek Seeds - 1 Tsp.
- Onion - 1
- Green Chillies - 3
- Curry Leaves
- Crushed Garlic - 1 Tbsp.
- Turmeric Powder - 1/4 Th Tsp.
- Tomatoes - 4
- Dosakaya | Sambar Cucumber - 3
- Red Chilli Powder - 1 Tbsp.
- Dry Red Chillies - 2
- Salt - As Required
- Ginger Garlic Paste - 1/2 Tbsp.
- Coriander Leaves
Preparation:
- In Pressure Cooker, add oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, onion, green chilies, dry red chilies, and salt.
- Mix well and saute for about 2 minutes.
- Then add curry leaves, crushed garlic, and turmeric powder and mix well.
- Saute till it releases the aroma.
- Then add Toor dal along with water and Red Chilli Powder.
- Bring to boil and cook.
- Then add Sambar Cucumber, Tomatoes, ginger garlic paste and salt.
- Mix well and pressure cook for about 2 whistles.
- When pressure leaves completely remove and add freshly chopped coriander leaves.
- Mix well and serve hot along with plain rice or even with roti.
